ROI calculator for any business spend

Check the return on anything you spend money on, from an ad campaign to a theme to a freelancer.

Change any number and the results update. Everything stays in your browser; nothing is saved or sent.

How to use the ROI calculator

  1. Enter what you spent (a campaign, a theme, a freelancer, a tool).
  2. Enter the revenue it produced and your gross margin on that revenue.
  3. Add any running monthly cost that came with it, and the number of months.

The ROI formula

ROI = (gross profit produced − total cost) ÷ total cost × 100%. A 100% ROI means you doubled your money. The calculator uses gross profit, not revenue, so the result is what the spend really earned you.

Why use profit, not revenue?

$1,400 in sales on a 60% margin is $840 of profit. Measured on revenue, a $350 spend looks like a 300% return; measured on profit, it's 140%. Both are good, but only the second one is real.

FAQ

What's the difference between ROI and ROAS?
ROAS is revenue ÷ ad spend and ignores costs. ROI uses profit, so it tells you if the money actually came back.
